Maryville men move into top 25 in D3Hoops.com poll

Maryville, Tenn. - The Maryville College Fighting Scots have just moved into the nation’s top 25 and is ranked #22 by D3Hoops.com for all games through Sunday, December 11thMaryville (8-0) was just outside the poll last week at #27 before defeating King College, an NAIA program, 84-58 and a strong NCAA Division III team from the Heartland Conference, Transylvania 67-62. 

The Scots are paced by sophomore guard Bo Mason. The Kennesaw, Georgia native is averaging 17.1 points a game on 39% shooting from beyond the arc and 83% free-throw shooting. Maryville’s outside attack is complemented by senior guard Monte Calloway. The Somerset, Kentucky native is tossing in 13.9 points a game after shooting 43% from the floor and over 90% from the charity stripe. 

MC’s outside to inside attack is supported by the post play of junior Bobby Golden. The 6’7” center from Louisville, Tennessee is throwing down 15.4 points a game and leading the team in rebounds with 7.9 boards a contest. The Scots are also receiving key minutes from a variety of players. Perimeter players Andy Chaney (3.0 ppg) and Quinn Bradley (3.5 ppg) have added to MC’s defensive intensity. Maryville’s inside game in complemented by Bradley Blair (8.4 ppg/3.4 rbpg), Jeremy Holliday (7.1 ppg/4.6 rbpg), and Jonathan Johnson (6.9 ppg/3.6 rbpg).

 

Maryville travels to Danville, Virginia to challenge the Cougars of Averett University on Saturday, December 17th. Tip-off is slated for 3:00 p.m.
