Smith, Calloway named to basketball honor roll
LaGrange, Ga. - The Great South Athletic Conference has released its basketball honor roll for the week ending Jan. 15. Agnes Scott freshman post player Morgan Smith was the women's player of the week, while Maryville senior guard Monte Calloway was the men's player of the week.
Smith led the Scotties to three wins over Atlanta Christian, Wesleyan and Fisk last week. She averaged 14.7 points and 7.7 rebounds per game, while shooting 57 percent. Smith had 20 points and eight rebounds against Atlanta Christian.
Calloway helped the Fighting Scots to GSAC wins over Fisk and Piedmont. Calloway's three-point play in overtime helped seal a 90-84 win at Fisk. He finished the game with 22 points and eight rebounds. Calloway had 19 points and six assists against Piedmont.
The Great South Athletic Conference is an athletic affiliation of eight NCAA Division-III member institutions in Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee.
