Great South Athletic Conference announces year-end basketball honors
The GSAC held its conference awards ceremony at the championship tournament being held at Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Ala. Huntingdon's Tiffany Jordan was named the GSAC Player of the Year. The GSAC Freshman of the Year was Piedmont's Kayla Duncan. Joeleen Akin of Agnes Scott was voted the GSAC Coach of the Year.
Jordan, a sophomore forward,
led the Lady Hawks in scoring, rebounding and steals. She averaged 15.8 points and 10.1 rebounds per game, with 102 steals. Jordan was named the GSAC Player of the Week three times during the season.
Duncan led the Lady Lions in scoring and blocks, averaging 12.8 points per game and had 45 blocks. She was second on the team in rebounding, averaging 5.7 rebounds per game.
Akin led Agnes Scott to a third place finish in the GSAC regular season standings with a 10-4 mark and a 13-12 overall record. The Scotties are guaranteed at least a .500 finish, the highest since the program began in 1988. The Scotties have set a school record of 13 wins, shattering the old mark of six wins.
