Adam Rosen, a senior shortstop/relief pitcher for the Maryville College Scots, has been named to the American Baseball Coaches Association All-American baseball team following his selection as a 1st Team All-South member. Rosen earned a spot on the national second team as a utility player for his outstanding offense and relief pitching performances.

The Great South Athletic Conference Player of the Year established six new single season or career records this year. Rosen hit .429 while playing in 44 games. He surpassed the single season hit mark with his 72 base hits and the career record with his 218 base knocks. He established new career marks in doubles and RBI as well. On the mound he posted a 2.73 ERA in relief and led the nation with his 10 saves, another MC record.

The Goodlettsville, Tennessee native was named the 2007 J.D. Davis award winner and was the first player in Maryville College baseball history to be named the team’s Most Valuable Player on four occasions.

Rosen is the first ABCA All-American since first baseman Mike Smickilas earned the honor in 1983.

Junior outfielder Michael Sims is a third team selection to the 2007 American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings Division III All-American team. This is the second post season honor for Sims in the last two weeks. He was a first team selection to the 2007 American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings Division III All South Region team. Sims is the first Panther since Bo Bray in 2003 to earn All-American honors.

Sims, a two-time All-Great South Athletic Conference selection, batted .401 for the season with three home runs and 37 runs batted in.

Sims started all 45 games for the Panthers. He led the team in 10 offensive categories and the GSAC in seven offensive categories. Sims scored 63 runs and had 79 hits; both totals were the second highest in a season by a Panther. He led the Panthers with 27 multiple hit games and had a 21-game hitting streak during season.
