GSAC well represented in NCAA Division III statistics
The Great South Athletic Conference is well represented in the latest men’s and women’s Division III basketball statistics released by the NCAA on Tuesday.

On the men’s side, Piedmont’s Jake Baldwin is second in the nation, averaging 28.8 points per game. LaGrange’s Demetris Render is ranked 18th in scoring, averaging 23.5 points per game. Maryville’s Jared Laverdiere is third in the nation in assist/turnover ratio with a 4.0 per game. Huntingdon’s Chris Roberts is 17th in free-throw percentage, making 91.5 percent at the line. Piedmont’s Jake Green is 22nd in assists, averaging 6.1 per game.

Piedmont is fourth in the nation as a team in free-throw percentage, making 79 percent from the line. The Lions are 21st in the nation in scoring, averaging 83.6 points per game. Maryville is 27th in scoring, averaging 83.2 points per game. The Fighting Scots are also 19th in scoring margin, outscoring their opponents by 14.5 points per game.

For the women, Agnes Scott’s Nicole Mitchell is 21st and Maryville’s Katie Saxe is 29th in rebounds per game. Mitchell is averaging 12.1 rebounds per game and Saxe is averaging 11.1. Morgan Smith of Agnes Scott is 30th in blocks, averaging 2.3 per game.

LaGrange is 18th as a team in rebound margin. The Panthers average 10.1 more rebounds per game than their opponents. Agnes Scott is 34th in field-goal percentage defense. Opponents are shooting only 33.6 percent against the Scotties. Piedmont is 36th in field-goal percentage, making 43.8 percent of its shots.
