Hill, Della Torre take softball player of the week awards
The GSAC announced the Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week awards for softball for the week ending Feb. 24. Huntingdon's Nicole Hill is the Pitcher of the Week. Piedmont junior outfielder Leah Della Torre is the Player of the Week.

Hill threw a perfect game in a 15-0 win over Tuskegee Institute in her only outing of the week. Hill struck out seven of the 15 batters she faced. She needed only 53 pitches to complete the perfect game. At the plate, Hill was 1-for-2 with two RBIs and scored three runs.

Della Torre helped the Lady Lions to a split of a doubleheader against 8th-ranked DePauw and Adrian to open the season. In the two games, she was 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs. Della Torre had the eventual game-winning hit in the comeback win over Adrian.
