Piedmont's Simmons named women's player of the week
Piedmont College's Laura Simmons is the GSAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending Feb. 24. The freshman forward helped the Lady Lions finish the regular season with a perfect 12-0 record in GSAC play.

Simmons had 20 points in the regular season final 64-60 win over Maryville. She hit 2-of-3 3-pointers, made 8-of-13 free throws and had three rebounds and steals each. Simmons played only 10 minutes in a 101-29 win over Wesleyan. She had six points and four rebounds, while making 3-of-4 shots from the floor.
