Maryville College junior forward Jessica Petersen has been named to the 2009 NSCAA Women’s Soccer NCAA Division III All-South-Atlantic Region team.
The Loveland, Ohio native was a key offensive force that finished nationally ranked for the third season in a row. Jessica’s 19 goals was the 7th best offensive output for a Scot in a season while her 10 assists ranked her 6th in MC seasonal records. The junior posted 48 points on the year which also ranks 6th among past MC standouts. Her efforts helped MC to a 14-5-1 season record. MC won their 8th consecutive GSAC title and advanced to the program’s 7th NCAA Tournament, their 6th post-season appearance in a row. In only three seasons, Petersen is only six goals shy of the MC career goal record of Jennifer Windrow that stands at 70. She is only 10 assists behind career assist leader Sarah Harmon who finished with 42. Petersen is a three-time All-Great South Athletic Conference performer and was named the leagues’ Player of the Year the past two seasons. “Jess is a great student, goal scorer, and leader,” exclaimed Head Coach Pepe Fernandez. “She has been successful in every aspect of a student-athlete’s life on campus. She is close to breaking records that many thought would never be touched at MC. We look forward to seeing what she can accomplish her senior year.” |
